My responses to your e-mail are in CAPS. I prefer to use color so it doesn't appear I'm SHOUTING, but I don't have that option.

Actually, in looking back at this thread, you emailed me on July 11th.  I emailed you back and never received a reply.  I emailed you again on July 25th looking for status because I often keep emails and look for replies.
THERE WERE OTHER REPLIES  FROM ME, BUT THIS IS BEGINNING TO GET CONTENTIOUS, SO LET'S JUST TAKE IT FROM HERE.

IT SIMPLY SEEMED EASIER TO ME TO HIT "REPLY" TO YOUR E-MAILS THAN TO RE-ENTER THE SITE TO REQUEST SUPPORT AND FILL IN ALL MY DATA EVERY TIME. IF THIS IS YOUR PREFERRED MODE, SO BE IT. IT IS NOT MINE.

I TRULY THOUGHT A 30 MIN TO 60 MIN MTG WOULD BE A DIRECT & COLLABORATIVE WAY TO RESOLVE ISSUES AND EXPLORE OPTIONS. IT IS MUCH MORE EFFECTIVE FOR ME THAN TO TRY TO CAPTURE THOUGHTS, TYPE THEM, SEND THEM, AND WAIT FOR YOU TO RESPOND. PERHAPS THAT'S JUST MY PREFERRED COMMUNICATION STYLE. HOWEVER, YOU SEEM VERY RESISTANT TO MEET. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THERE'S ANYTHING I CAN DO TO MAKE YOU MORE COMFORTABLE WITH THE IDEA.

In readin the thread below, here are more complete replies:

1. There is only one guestbook in the site.  There is not "another one".  The guestbook may or may not meet your needs.  It is not structured well for alumni to sign in.  Instead, people can leave comments and enter their name and email address so you can broadcast email to them.  That's about all it does.  If that works, I can turn it on if it is not already on. I JUST WANT SOMEWHERE THESE INDIVIDUALS CAN PROVIDE THEIR CONTACT INFO TO ME. IT SEEMED A SECOND GUESTBOOK WAS A WAY TO DO THAT. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO ADD A FEATURE SIMPLY, THEN PERHAPS WE'D BE BETTER OFF HAVING OUR GUESTBOOK DEDICATED TO ALUMNI AND LABEL THE TAB ACCORDINGLY.

2. If you want to set up PayPal to accept credit cards, go to www.paypal.com and register for an account.  It is fast and easy.  Once you have an account, send me the email address tied to that account and I can hook it to your event ticket sales feature if that's the one you wish to use.  If you want a full blown merchant account, I can send you an application and get you set up.  For PayPal, there is nothing I can do to get you an account.  Instead, I can get you an email address associated with the website and you can use that if you wish.
WE'D LIKE TO USE THIS FOR FUNDRAISING AT PRESENT, POSSIBLY FOR REGISRATION FOR CAMPS & TOURNAMENTS IN THE FUTURE. FRANKLY, I WAS LOOKING FOR A RESOURCE TO HELP US THROUGH THE PROCESS. IF YOU'RE NOT THE RIGHT RESOURCE, I WILL FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO HELP ME WITH PAYPAL.

3. Per my note below, I still do not understand your pet peeves and do not know what to do to help.
I CAN TAKE THE TIME TO REWRITE MY LIST, OR I COULD EXPLAIN IT TO YOU FACE-TO-FACE IN 10-15 MINUTES. AGAIN, I AM PERHAPS A BETTER VERBAL COMMUNICATOR.
HERE ARE A FEW EXAMPLES, THOUGH:
I CAN NOT CONTROL FONT TYPE OR FONT SIZE ON HOMEPAGE ANNOUNCEMENTS. I AM QUITE SAVVY WITH WORD, YET I CANNOT CHANGE FONT TYPE OR SIZE WHEN ENTERING ANNOUNCEMENTS. I AM LEFT WITH TYPING ANNOUNCEMENTS IN WORD AND CUTTING AND PASTING THEM INTO THE SITE.
EVERY SINGLE CALENDAR ENTRY NEEDS TO BE ENTERED OR EDITED INDIVIDUALLY. I HAVE AN EVENT THAT RUNS THE SAME TIME EVERY WEEKDAY FOR TWO CONSECUTIVE WEEKS. IS THERE ANY WAY TO CUT & PASTE THE IDENTICAL INFO FROM ONE DAY TO ANOTHER? IS THERE ANY WAY TO MAKE EVENTS "RECURRING"?
ALSO, IS THERE ANY WAY TO PRINT OFF THE CALENDAR? ALL THIS DATA RESIDES ON THE SITE'S CALENDAR, BUT I CAN'T FIND A WAY TO PRINT A HARD COPY. DOES THIS MEAN I NEED TO MAINTAIN THE CALENDAR SEPARATELY ELSEWHERE IF I WANT TO PRINT A COPY? THEN, AGAIN, THERE'S NO WAY TO CUT & PASTE INFO INTO THE SITE.

4. Team pages are in a standard format.  Specific features can be turned on and off.  They cannot be rearranged or changed.
OH....

5. I still need more info on your email concerns and desires.
A COLLEAGUE HAS MORE QUESTIONS HERE THAN I DO. ONE SIMPLE QUESTION, THOUGH: CAN BOARD MEMBERS SET UP E-MAIL ACCTS THROUGH THE SITE TO RECEIVE COMMUNICATION RATHER THAN USING OUR PERSONAL ACCOUNTS?

At this point, I am sorry, but I do not know how to help.  Of the features we offer in the site you get from us for $300 per year, which do you want turned on and which are you having an issue with?
I DON'T BELIEVE PREVIOUS BOARD MEMBERS SOUGHT TO UTILIZE THE SITE VERY MUCH. IT'S HARD FOR ME TO SUMMARILY TURN FEATURES ON & OFF WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING SOME OF THE OPTIONS. YOU HAVE ALSO STATED THAT OUR SITE IS DUE FOR AN UPGRADE AND THAT YOU HAVE NUMEROUS NEW TEMPLATES AVAILABLE SINCE OURS WAS CREATED. REALISTICALLY, I'D LIKE TO KNOW WHAT'S AVAILABLE AT OUR PRICE POINT AND WHAT MIGHT BE AVAILABLE AT OTHER PRICE POINTS.
Thanks,
Mike
I'M HONESTLY NOT TRYING TO BE DIFFICULT - YOU HAVE AN INHERENT GRASP OF THE FEATURES AVAILABLE; I'M TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT MIGHT EXIST - YOU ARE PREPARED TO FIX DEFINED ISSUES BY E-MAIL; I'D LIKE TO HAVE A CONVERSATION TO UNDERSTAND CAPABILITIES. IT WOULD BE NICE TO BRIDGE THIS DISCONNECT IN OUR WANTS, NEEDS, & STYLES.
LET ME KNOW HOW YOU THINK WE CAN BEST ACCOMPLISH THIS.

Thanks Joe.  Here are some replies:

1. I can think of two options.  One, we could rename your email broadcast feature and ask Alumni to join.  The upside is alumni, the down side is that you may want that feature for other uses than alumni.  A second choice is to create a new alumni page.  We have what we call generic pages that are just blank pages that people can use for anything they wish.  They do not contain forms, but you can put most anything you wish on the page.  Options here are to link with an email address, or we can create a simple form for you that allows alumni to complete a brief form that emails to you.  Let us know if either of these options work for you.

2. To sign up for PayPal, do the following........go to www.paypal.com.  Once there, click on the link on the left side that says "New to PayPal? Sign Up".  The "Sign Up" words are a hyperlink that goes to their sign up page.  Once there, you can either sign up for a personal account or a business account.  In your case, you are better off signing up for a business account.  Further, you are better off using a cooperfootball.com email address since the parents change each year.  This allows next year's parents to take over the PayPal account.  If this works, let me know what you would like for an email address.  My suggestion is something like treasurer@cooperfootball.com.  Once you have the email address, perform the steps above and then click on the Get Started button beneath the Business label.  ON the subsequent page, select Website Payments Standard and click on Continue.  The next page outlins the next steps.  Have your group name, bank account, etc, ready.  Then click on Go.  ONce you proceed, complete the form with the required info.  That's about it.  ONce set up, let me know and I hook it to your credit card features on this site.

3. For the formatting issues, what kind of PC are you using?  PC or Mac?  Which operating system?  Which browser?  For the calendar, yes, there is no recurring entry available.

5. Yes, we can set up email for board members.  There are two choices.  We can create forwarding addresses or POP3 mailboxes.  Forwarding email addresses simply route email to your existing personal accounts.  The upside is that people can stick to checking one email inbox.  The downside is that their email all still comes into their personal account and any reply comes from their personal account.  POP3 email accounts are real mailboxes in real email accounts.  We have webmail that can be used to receive and send and you cany use Outlook or equivalent to check email.  The upside is that replies from from cooperfootball.com email addresses.  The downside is that people need to check and use an additional email inbox.  The final point is that people in organizations like yours should avoid using their name in email addresses because you all change frequently.  Parents usually stick around for 3 to 4 years sending email to you.  Therefore, rather than email addresses like jpipp@cooperfootball.com you all should think of using president@cooperfootball.com, treasurer@cooprfootball.com, etc.  If you want anything set up, just let us know.  Or, we can create an admin account for you and you can set up anything you wish.  However, before we create an admin account and create further frustration, I would prefer to resolve your PC problem on our website.

For an upgrade to design, you can visit our site at www.mystifyyourweb.com and click on the Templates link on the right side.  There are about 50 functional templates.  We can apply most any of them to your site.

As to price points, you are currently at the lowest one that exists.  We offer $300 per year sites to high school programs.  WIth that you can have any or all features existing in our youth sports sites.  You can see that list in the Feature Configuration link in Site Maintenance.  That page lists enabled and disabled features each with a brief statement of the feature.  If you have any questions about any of them, please let us know and we can more fully explain, or we can email you a features sheet that explain them a bit more.  The next step up in price point is to move to our business pricing.  In that case, we charge you for annual hosting of about $265 per year and then price as you go for everything.  Upgrades, feature adds, support, etc are all charged at $120 per hour.  Business sites can run between $1000 and $10000 per year, but you end up with a great deal of customization and additional features if you need them.  We also routinely meet with people.  However, we charge for the meetings as we help people design their sites.  We have found that most high school programs do not have the funding needed to go high end solution and therefore have been of the belief that we offer a very valuable service and product for $300 per year.  The upside is that it is inexpensive.  The downside is that  in order to keep costs to $300 per year we never do face to face meetings and we only offer the features designed into the site.  Each year we release two new versions where each new version contains a few new features.  Our next release is scheduled for January, 2009.  From time to time we do phone calls and teleconferences because they are low cost to do.  We rarely have customers come meet with us because all employees are based out of their homes.  The only bricks and morter we keep are for the data center that house our servers.  No office space also keeps costs down for us and therefore our customers.  When we meet with business customers we go to them.  When we meet with association boards for large programs, who also pay $2000 per year, we go to their board meetings which are usually at community centers.

Please let us know if you have any additional  questions and please be sure to answer the questions about your PC and operating system and browser so we can resolve your formatting issues.

Thanks,

  Mike -
Generating some requests & next steps per your last reply, which by the way provide good info for me. Thank you. Right now, I am urgently interested in creating an ability for alumni to access our site, sign in, and be able to purchase sponsorships or jerseys. To that end:

Regarding an "Alumni Page", you stated A second choice is to create a new alumni page.  We have what we call generic pages that are just blank pages that people can use for anything they wish.  They do not contain forms, but you can put most anything you wish on the page.  Options here are to link with an email address, or we can create a simple form for you that allows alumni to complete a brief form that emails to you.

I  would like to create a page titled  "Alumni"  that would  allow  alumni to 'register' with us. Ideally they would be prompted to provide NAME, ADDRESS, CITY, STATE, ZIP, E-MAIL, GRADUATION YEAR, plus a space for  COMMENTS, perhaps. If you could help create this and then link it to the e-mail address cooperbooster@gmail.com that should work well for our needs. Later, I would like to be able to upload a simple Word or Excel file onto this "Alumni" page providing a list of alumni who have registered (which I believe I can do).

Regarding PAYPAL, I will register per your instructions and contact you tomorrow and ask for your assistance "hooking it to our site"

For now we will use the google mail acct  referenced above, cooperbooster@gmail.com , and worry about creating e-mail accts another time.

Regarding formatting issues, I use a Dell PC with Windows XP. I typically use Firefox as a browser. Tonight I noticed your 'warning' about pop-up blockers. Any other thoughts on my formatting difficulties?

Regarding the Calendar Page - Is there a way to PRINT the calendar? I do think that would be a useful feature for most organizations using your sites.

Regarding templates, features, & price points - I will take another look at your website after we get through this push to get an alumni registration page & PAYPAL set up.

Thanks,
Joe

Sorry it took so long.  I ran into a few problems.  Your new Alumni form is uploaded in the Upload Files area.  Here is the link:

www.cooperfootball.com/assorted/alumni.asp

You can also see this link in the Upload Files area.

Thanks,

The existing "Contact Us" page and new "Alumni Form" both look to successfully send info to the cooperbooster@gmail.com  Thank you. Now we need to incorporate the "alumni form" into our website. Here's how I would like to do that - you tell me if it's possible.

I'd like you to create a new page called HISTORY & ALUMNI . I have an example of how I see this page attached as a file below. I'd like to be able to create text with links on this page, not unlike the announcements page. Then, through the Admin Page, I could:
- have text direct people to use a link to the alumni form you created
- have text direct people to use a link to an alumni list I would compile
- have text direct people to use a link to a history file I would create

I hope this is a simple solution based on existing tools that we could implement by this weekend.

Please confirm by e-mail or phone whether this is a feasible approach or whether you have a better solution. I would very much like to have this in place by this weekend so I can send out my Alumni Mailing.

Thank you,
Joe

Done.  I created the page to look a bit like the PowerPoint file you sent.  I linked the form.  You can edit the new page in the Generic Page section.

Thanks,
